Background
Born out of progress and growth, MPOC was established in 2025 following the completion of the nation’s state-of-the-art port facility. This new development marks the beginning of a major transformation in how we manage trade, logistics, and maritime services in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
For decades, port operations in our country relied on manual systems and basic infrastructure — approaches that served us well in their time but were no longer suited to the growing demands of international trade and cruise tourism. Today, we are entering a new era defined by technology, efficiency, and global competitiveness.
As part of this transition, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority — which has long overseen both regulation and operations — is shifting fully into the role of independent regulator, responsible for oversight, policy, and safety standards. The MPOC will assume responsibility for daily terminal operations, service delivery, and customer experience across the port system.
This transition is ongoing, and will be working closely with the all stakeholders to ensure a smooth, coordinated process that maintains safety, continuity, and service reliability throughout.
CEO's Message
The maritime industry of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has evolved remarkably over the decades—from the early days of manual cargo handling and limited facilities to the dawn of a new era defined by automation, efficiency, and international standards.
Today, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Modern Port Operating Company (MPOC) stands proudly at the center of this transformation, carrying forward the legacy of the nation’s maritime pioneers while embracing the technologies and practices that define the modern global port industry.
MPOC was established to lead this evolution. We are the new face of port operations—streamlined, technology-driven, and committed to operational excellence. Our focus is on delivering world-class logistics, terminal management, and customer service that position St. Vincent and the Grenadines as a competitive maritime hub within the Caribbean. Through strategic investments in digital systems, modern cargo-handling equipment, and data-led decision-making highly trained and skilled staff, we are ensuring that our operations meet the demands of contemporary trade while maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
Our transformation extends beyond the cargo yard. The cruise sector, a vital component of the national tourism industry, represents one of our most exciting frontiers. We are committed to elevating the cruise experience for both visitors and operators—enhancing passenger handling, improving terminal amenities, and strengthening coordination with tour providers and local enterprises.
By doing so, we aim to make St. Vincent and the Grenadines not just a port of call, but a destination of choice. At the heart of all we do are our people. Our employees are the foundation of MPOC’s success—their expertise, adaptability, and commitment to excellence enable us to deliver consistently outstanding results. We are deeply invested in their professional growth, well-being, and capacity to lead change.
MPOC also recognizes its broader role as a responsible corporate citizen. We are dedicated to supporting youth development, environmental sustainability, and community upliftment—ensuring that our growth contributes meaningfully to national development and social progress.
As we look ahead, MPOC’s vision is bold yet grounded: to build a modern, efficient, and sustainable port operation that honours our maritime heritage while embracing innovation and technology. Together with industry partners, stakeholders, and the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, we are charting a new course toward a brighter, more connected future. Carl F.
