Excess storage is applicable following the expiration of the five free working days after the cargo is discharged from vessel or unpacked from consolidated containers. Excess storage is calculated based on weight or measurement (volume) which is greater multiply by the tariff rate multiply by number of storage days. Excess storage can be limited or unlimited depending on the cargo time.
Cargo, eligible for transfer to Customs & Excise, should take fourteen (14) days after arrival. Cargo such as alcoholic beverage and tobacco are transferred on arrival.
The port responsibility for cargo end after it is delivered to the consignee, Public Health officials or transferred to the Customs & Excise
Yes, excess storage can commence on a public holiday providing the fifth day of the free storage period was a normal working day.
The free storage period that is deemed to be adequate to complete the cargo clearance process and avoid extra storage once process commences immediately upon the arrival of cargo. It is a sure way to keep the cost of doing business with the port to a minimum.
The responsibility for damage to cargo varies throughout the supply chain and is dependent on which entity has custody of the cargo at the damage. It is for this reason why it is imperative to determine the condition in which cargo is received each time it changes custody.
Children under the age of twelve (12) is prohibited from entering the port.
